  Workshop 3
Emergency Preparedness is a team effort
Child care providers are responsible for having an emergency plan for their centers that provides for the safety of their children, staff and parents. However, creating and executing an effective emergency plan should be a team effort that involves defined roles and responsibilities for parents and staff.
Our workshop is designed to assist parents and guardians with understanding their role with emergency preparedness at the center and at home. Additionally, we help families understand the need for collaborative emergency preparedness plans that will improve communication, reduce risk, and provide peace of mind and control in a crisis.

Do your parents and guardians:

  1. Keep their emergency contact information up to date?
  2. Have an emergency plan at home?
  3. Discuss the importance of Fire Drills with their children?
If you answered no to any of these questions, you will want to offer this workshop to your staff and parents.

At the end of the training, the participants will:

  • Understand why preparing for an emergency is a team effort
  • Explain why each household should have emergency plans
  • Understand the types of emergencies and disasters most likely to occur in their area
  • Learn what parents can do to assist child caregivers with providing a safe and prepared environment
